OpenClaw 2026.10.1 · migration and compatibility

LocalClaw 1.0.211

Update LocalClaw first, then update OpenClaw to 2026.10.1 from the Updates screen. This release protects the database migration with a verified recovery backup, restores Goal actions with the new runtime and correctly recognizes successful native updates.

What changed

Backup before the 10.1 migration

LocalClaw creates and verifies a full recovery archive before replacing an older OpenClaw runtime across the 2026.10.1 database migration. If verification fails, the update stops before interrupting the Gateway or replacing OpenClaw. The normal recovery archive excludes project workspace files; keep a separate backup of your projects.

Goal actions work with OpenClaw 10.1

Creating, reading, updating and completing Goals now use the native operations provided by OpenClaw 2026.10.1. Existing Goals and completed operation receipts remain available, and compatibility with OpenClaw 2026.9.7 is preserved.

Successful updates finish correctly

A successful native update with OpenClaw's known plaintext-secret advisory no longer appears as a failed plugin repair. The advisory remains visible. LocalClaw independently checks configuration, pending migrations, Doctor and Gateway health before activating the updated runtime.

Your capability choices stay yours

New plugin capabilities still require your review. Permission refusals, unknown warnings, failed update steps, incomplete migrations and an unhealthy Gateway continue to block activation.

Release verification

396 Swift tests passed. Two complete native migrations from OpenClaw 2026.9.7 to 2026.10.1 passed in isolated installations, covering verified backups, database integrity, preserved Goals and credentials, update receipts, Doctor, Gateway restart, repeated health checks and a local test chat. Compatibility checks also covered OpenClaw 2026.9.7 and legacy migration paths.

The final app and DMG passed Developer ID signature checks, Apple notarization, stapling, Gatekeeper and the app updater's artifact verification. These checks cover the tested migration paths; third-party plugins and external accounts can require their own setup and review.

Update

On LocalClaw 1.0.207 or later, open Updates and click Update under App update. On 1.0.206 or earlier, download the DMG and replace LocalClaw in Applications. After LocalClaw relaunches, update OpenClaw from the same screen. Your saved license, OpenClaw configuration and workspaces stay in place.
